The American Dental Association recommends all patients see a dentist at least once every six months. Though if you suffer from certain dental issues, you may need to see Dr. Mysse more often.

What is a Comprehensive Exam?

A comprehensive dental exam involves checking the entire mouth for signs of dental problems. During this exam, your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and flossed. After, Dr. Mysse will check your teeth for cavities and any signs of gum disease. A comprehensive exam enables Dr. Mysse to assess your risk for tooth and root decay as well as bone disease.

Cavities and gum disease are common issues, but they can be easily and painlessly treated with the right care, especially if they are detected early.

Even if you no longer have your natural teeth, Dr. Mysse recommends a routine examination to maintain the overall health of your mouth and to help ensure replacement teeth are healthy.

During an exam, Dr. Mysse and his staff check your head, neck, and jaw muscles for any abnormalities. In some cases, dental X-rays may be required. Dr. Mysse and his staff will work to treat you, seeking out specialized help from an oral surgeon or other professional whenever necessary.

Dr. Mysse feels strongly that his patients should be educated to be proactive in their own dental care. To this end, he and his dental team will review proper brushing and flossing techniques to ensure you are caring for your teeth properly. He is happy to discuss issues involving dietary changes, tobacco issues, and cosmetic issues that may affect your oral care.
